MSUH Celebrated 50 Years!

Thank you to all our alumni, former parents, current parents and children, former and current staff members who attended our 50th Anniversary celebration on June 10, 2018!

Approximately 220 people joined us for an amazing day of reminiscing, reconnecting, and revelry.  We began with Opening Ceremonies in the nave of the Church of the Good Shepherd.  An alumni choir led us in the hymn, "Come Worship the Lord."  An alumnus read about the Good Shepherd from the Gospel of John.  Our founder, Betty Hissong, shared her memories of former students and parents and the beginnings of the school.  Betty's children began the sharing of memories including coming with their parents on Sunday evenings to set up the room and even being stopped by the police because they were there so late, having just come in from a trip.  Other alumni and parents joined in the sharing of memories. One alumnus skipped to the podium to relate a story about the adults helping him and his friends make a snowman.  A former parent related how the school community supported her during a difficult time in her family's life.  Together we thanked God for the Hissong family, all of the parents, all of the children, and all of the staff members who have ever been a part of our school community.  We also thanked God for the parishioners at the Church of the Good Shepherd who welcomed us in 2000 and where we have found our home.

Following the Opening Ceremonies everyone enjoyed food and fellowship.  The children enjoyed balloon artist, Rick Everhart, and his creations.  They also enjoyed an obstacle course set up by a current parent and our lovely playground.  Most delightful was seeing alumni reminiscing in the classroom.  They gently handled their favorite materials and many commented on "how small" everything looks now.  As the day came to a close two current three year old students were busily working on materials they had been away from since summer break began.  You can find an article written by Sun Press reporter Jeff Piorkowski.
